Welcome to The House of Drews! We are so happy to have you here with us, and are so excited to embark on the journey of sharing a little piece of our world with you.

I thought it would be nice to share some fun before photos with you, to give you an idea of where this journey stems from. This is our second home and also our second remodel. As you will find, we live in an early 70s split-level home. Had I known we would be starting a blog (I’ve always had it in the back of my mind, but never took the leap before now!), we would have taken better photos of how everything looked before we moved our stuff in…while the house was empty. These were taken prior to our purchasing the home, but you get the drift.

I know–what a mess, right? The pictures make it look bright and cheery, but that was not the case. Dark paneling, dated curtains, brass hardware everywhere (and not the good kind of brass). BUT! There’s good news! We are working to rectify that little situation a little bit at a time. So, I am sure you’re wondering: What can I expect from this blog that’s different from the rest of the blogs out there? Well, let’s chat about that a little bit.

We bought this mess of a home because it is on almost a full acre of property. Want to see?

We will be sharing several updates in regards to the yard, and plan to start a fun series with my lovely grandmother, called “Grandma’s Garden.” My grandmother is a Master Gardener, and has volumes of knowledge about gardening and all things yard. Also, we will have a series on sprinkler systems that is sure to please. I mean, seriously, how many of you have terrible dry patches and boggy patches that you don’t know how to fix? We can help with that.

We will also be sharing our kitchen renovation. After weeks of searching Pinterest for swoon-worthy split-level kitchen renovations, I can assure you that this one takes the cake. We were unable to find anything that fit all of our needs in this tiny space, so we created a plan of our own. I PROMISE you will love it. You will be able to catch a sneak peak of the plans on our next post. Stay tuned!

I seriously cannot wait to get this journey going with all of you. PLEASE share comments and suggestions along the way, but try and keep them constructive. This is a journey, and I can assure you that we don’t have it all figured out. But we are thrilled to share the journey with you.

Time to get to work!

<3, Liz
